Brand Film vs Corporate Film: Which Do You Need?

The short answer

Choose a brand film when you want people to feel something about who you are, for a launch, a campaign or social media. Choose a corporate film when you need to explain what you do, how and for whom, for investors, partners, recruits or a sales meeting. Many companies need both, made from one shoot.

What is a brand film?

A brand film is short, emotional and built around one idea. It shows the spirit of the brand more than its facts: the feeling of a home, the ambition of a company, the promise of a launch. It usually runs from 30 seconds to two minutes and is made for screens where people choose whether to keep watching.

What is a corporate film?

A corporate film explains. It covers who you are, what you do, how you do it and the results you deliver. It is longer, often two to five minutes, and is shown where people want detail: a boardroom, an investor meeting, a website's About page, a trade show stand.

How do I choose?

Ask who will watch it and what they should do next:

  • Launching a brand or project to the public: a brand film
  • Explaining your business to investors, partners or recruits: a corporate film
  • Selling a real estate project: a project film or walkthrough, often with a short brand cut
  • Building recognition on social media: short brand reels

Can one shoot give us both?

Often, yes. Plan both from the start and the same shoot days can produce a corporate film, a brand film and short reels. It saves crew time and keeps every version consistent.

Questions answered

Quick answers.

  • Usually 30 seconds to two minutes, shorter for social media. The idea should land in the first few seconds.

  • Often two to five minutes. Long enough to explain, short enough to hold attention. Split longer stories into chapters.

  • Shoot days, locations, crew and equipment, drone or aerial work, animation, the number of edits and versions, and music or voice-over.
